I have severally heard these words over and over that alcoholics are devil possessed. This is true because many homes today are wrecked because of alcoholism. Imagine being a member of a family where daddy always comes in, beats you alongside your siblings, abuse your mother (his wife), and constantly making your lives a hell on earth! What do you say to such a family? The devil is really at work.
The saying that those on alcohol are devil possessed, may actually sound strange, but looking at the abnormal behaviours of alcoholics, you just find out that almost everything about them is in danger. They are affected in soul, mind and body. Devils exist to destroy. The body, and the mind deteriorate as alcoholics sink into rages and hallucinations; and all the time demons are crying for more alcohol, torturing in soul, in spirit those they possess until they cannot rest, sleep, or do anything as alcohol goes into their system. Each time they try to satisfy their thirst for alcohol, they end up satisfying the demons that live within them, only for a short time.
I have witnessed many, many alcoholics set free, and heard their stories. I remember a man delivered in one of our services who were amazed to learn how many devils were in him. It was actually through a sip from a bottle of alcohol that he got those demons. When you get drunk, you give your mind, your body over to the devil to possess. The destructive/degrading power of satan takes control over a person when he/she loses control of his/her senses, or mind. An alcoholic is a helpless and senseless being. The desire of the flesh is what causes people to indulge in alcoholism. Think what an alcoholic is like when he cannot get a drink, and multiply that many times. It will be the same for a drug addict, a sex offender, a murderer - they are tormented like they are in hell already.
The Bible tells us of a period when every activities of our lives will come to a halt. At that time God will come in judgment - to judge the living and the dead. At that time every works of man on earth will be revealed. The Lord will look at the record of your activities while on earth. All the opportunities you had to do good but you did not. At that time, there would be a clear separation of good and evil. The good people will go to be with God in heaven whereas the evil ones will go to hell with satan - the one who possessed them. In hell, they will plead like the rich man of Luke 16:19-31, who begged for a little water to quench his thirst.
In hell, those that were in whoredom will desire sex but will have no way to fulfill that desire. There will be no satisfaction - only torment, torment, torment. People possessed with a murdering devil will crave to murder but will be unable to kill anyone. In a constant frenzy of frustration that can never be satisfied, they'll be possessed with the lust to kill, kill, kill and destroy... and they can't. The only way they found relief when they were on Earth was to do what that devil in them wanted. A murdering devil, for instance, stops torturing - at least briefly - the one he possesses only when that one commits murder. It is the same thing with alcoholics. An alcoholic spirit will leave a person a lone, for a season, only when he/she has gotten himself/herself drunk.
I have spoken so much on moderate drinking. Moderation is only a bet. Since there is no such thing as a little sin, devil possession is not accomplished as a result of one little sin. It comes about by sowing one seed of deceit after another or allowing them to be sown. An evil harvest will be reaped if the seed is not killed out. It is not my duty to begin to mention all the evil harvests of an alcoholic, only the truth about the subject will reveal them. When you sow the first seed of deceit, it is to the heart as the first drink of an alcoholic - it launches souls on the road to destruction. Alcoholics know that the first drink does not make a person an alcoholic. Alcoholism goes with continuity, until satan has the person addicted. If you can understand the perils of alcoholism, you will quickly break away in great terror, running for your life!
